CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) is one of six services of Copernicus, the observation program of the European Union Earth. CAMS provides data and continuous information on the atmospheric composition, and in particular aerosols. CAMS is implemented by the European Center for Medium-range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF) for the European Commission. The ECMWF is an independent intergovernmental organization supported by 34 States.
The CAMS calls implemented by ECMWF are about setting and demonstration of downstream applications using one or more CAMS products as input, also known as “Use Case”, i.e. promoting software or services using CAMS products. The UTAQ project is founded by ECMWF: UTAQ won the tender in 2018 as the only Italian use-case.
